Wire and Cable Safety Recommendations

Wire and Cable Safety Recommendations

Job sites can be dangerous places. When it comes to working with wire and cable, the most common injuries include cuts from blades and wire cutting tools, and slipping on dripped wire lubricant. However, following a few basic wire and cable safety procedures can go a long way to making sites as risk free as possible.

Top safety tips include using pre-installed pulling devices to reduce cutting accidents, using pre-lubricated wire to reduce slip and fall accidents, and selecting wire with full color insulation to promote better wire identification.

More important than any individual tip, however, is the need to establish a “culture of safety”. Avoid accepting the notion that “accidents happen” or that they are simply a part of job-site life. Acculturate staff to safety vigilance and strict adherence to safety procedures and the company will be well on its way to wire and cable safety.
